Leaping Sprouts — Privacy Policy
Last updated: Sep 30, 2026
1. Who we are
leapingsprouts.com is operated by Leaping Goose Inc., a corporation based in Ottawa, Ontario. Leaping Sprouts is a business name of Leaping Goose Inc. (“we,” “us”).
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit our site or buy from us, how we use it, and your choices. We follow Canada’s federal private-sector privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
We collect only what we need to sell and ship your order and look after you as a customer. We don’t sell your personal information.
2. What we collect and why
| What | Examples | Why we use it |
|---|---|---|
| Order details | Name, shipping and billing address, email, phone (if given), items ordered | To process, ship and support your order, handle returns, and keep records required by tax law |
| Payment details | Card details, entered directly with our payment processor | To take payment and prevent fraud. We never see or store your full card number |
| Account details | Email, password, saved addresses, order history | To let you log in, reorder and track orders, if you choose to create an account |
| Reviews | Your review, rating, display name and email, plus your IP address and browser type | To show your review on our site and filter out spam. Your email is never shown publicly |
| Messages | Anything you send us by email | To answer you |
| Technical data | IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, how you arrived at our site | To run and secure the site, prevent fraud, and understand what’s working |
We collect this information from you when you order, create an account, write a review, or contact us, and automatically when you use the site. By placing an order or creating an account, you consent to these uses. We’ll ask for your consent again before using your information for any new purpose.
3. Who we share it with, and where it’s stored
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the store, and only what each one needs:
| Provider | What they do |
|---|---|
| WooPayments (Automattic) and Stripe | Process payments and screen for fraud |
| Canada Post | Delivers your order |
| A Small Orange | Hosts our website and store data, on servers in the United States |
| Cloudflare | Secures and speeds up the site, and routes our email |
| Google (Gmail) | Handles our email |
| Google Analytics (Google) and Jetpack Stats (Automattic) | Measures how the site is used |
| Automattic (Gravatar) and automated spam filtering | Checks reviews for spam. If you have a Gravatar account, a coded version (hash) of your email is used to show your profile picture beside your review |
These providers must protect your information and use it only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, for example to tax authorities or under a court order.
Storage outside Canada. Some of these providers store or process information in the United States and other countries. While it’s there, it’s subject to the laws of those countries, and their governments may be able to access it.
4. Cookies, analytics and marketing emails
- Essential cookies. Our store uses cookies to keep your cart, keep you logged in, and complete checkout securely. The store doesn’t work without them.
- Fraud prevention. Our payment processor uses cookies and device information to detect fraudulent payments.
- Order attribution. WooCommerce records how you arrived at our site (for example, a search engine or a social media link) with your order, so we know what’s working.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats to see which pages are visited and how people use the site. It collects information such as pages viewed, device type, and approximate location. We don’t use it to identify you personally.
- Embedded content. Some pages may include content from other sites, such as videos. That content behaves as if you visited the other site directly, and that site may collect data about you under its own privacy policy.
- Your choices. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop the cart and checkout from working.
- Marketing emails. We don’t send marketing emails. If that changes, we’ll only email you with your consent, and every email will include an unsubscribe link. Order and shipping emails are part of your purchase and aren’t marketing.
5. How long we keep it and how we protect it
- Order records are kept for as long as Canadian tax law requires, generally six years after the end of the tax year of the sale.
- Accounts stay active until you ask us to close them. We may delete accounts that have been inactive for 3 years.
- Reviews stay on the site until you ask us to remove them.
- Emails are kept for as long as needed to help you, and no longer than needed for our records.
- Security. Our site uses encryption (HTTPS), payments are handled by our payment processor, and access to customer information is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
- If something goes wrong. If a breach of your information creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we’ll notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as the law requires.
6. Your rights, contact, and changes
- Your rights. You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, get a copy of it, correct it, have it deleted, or withdraw your consent to how we use it. If you have an account, you can also update your details yourself (though some uses are needed to complete an order, and we must keep records required by law). We’ll respond within 30 days.
- Children. Our store is not intended for children. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
- Contact. Our privacy contact is Troy, who is responsible for how we handle personal information. Email [email protected] with any request or concern.
- Complaints. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
- Changes. We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. For significant changes, we’ll post a notice on the site.
